The mission of Endocrine & Diabetes Associates, PSC is to increase endocrine health through knowledge and caring.  Our Nurse Practitioner’s are certified diabetes educators and certified insulin pump trainers.  The practice offers a variety of onsite educational classes for our patients.  Please discuss with your physician or nurse practitioner if you are interested in any of these educational oppourtunities.

Intro to pumps:  This class is for patients interested in learning about insulin pump therapy.  The patient will learn how an insulin pump works and their features.  Pumps will be available for demonstration.

Pump Class:  This is a two day class offered once a month on Monday and Tuesday from 8:15am to 12:00pm.  During this class the patients start on their pump and will learn about the basics of pump therapy and functions of their pump.

Pump Upgrade Class:  This class is for patients who are currently on a pump and want to upgrade to a new pump.  Pump options and advancements are reviewed.

Carbohydrate Counting Classes:  This is a 2 part class offered on Fridays by a registered dietician certified diabetes educator.  Patients interested in insulin pump therapy are required to attend this class. During the first class participants will learn carbohydrate counting and intensive insulin therapy along with estimating serving sizes of food and how to keep carbohydrate, blood sugar and insulin records.  Patients will return the following Friday with their records.  A determination of insulin to carbohydrate ratios will be calculated by the dietician. 

Nutritional Therapy Class:  Participants are usually patients with Type 2 diabetes.

Patients will learn the importance of healthy eating and basic carbohydrate counting.
